Big Batch Spaghetti Bolognese the on hand meal you’ll never want to go without.
Have you ever found yourself wanting a home cooked meal that doesn’t break the bank and requires minimum effort. This is my go to recipe that we have every fortnight and takes away the stress of cooking it from scratch every time.
We are a family of 4 – 2 adults and 2 kids (2yrs and 5yrs old) and this big batch of bolognese makes 6 x 1L containers (however we always use one batch the day I make it and freeze 5 containers). I freeze these using the Coles sistema containers because they stack easily and are easy to defrost. I use to freeze it in freezer bags but then you have to wait for the sauce to cool down and the bags would always leek when defrosting. Switching to containers for our freezer has been a big life hack!
So as I was saying each batch easily feeds our family with a good serving left over for lunch the next day. I use 1 packet of spaghetti with each container. We have a deep freezer which helps when meal prepping recipes. Overall, meal prepping has transformed our dining experience, making it more convenient and enjoyable while ensuring that we always have delicious food on hand.
Defrosting the spaghetti bolognese
When you take the frozen batch of spaghetti out (I would recommend taking it out the night before), heat it in in a sauce pan and add 1/3 cup of boiling water from the pasta water and enjoy the ease and thank yourself for making this Big Batch Spaghetti Bolognese.
The big question is which way do you prepare it? I love to mix the pasta into the bolognese sauce as it coats the pasta better and more evenly. To top is off serve with with some shredded or shaved parmesan. Eat while its hot and love every bite!
